Woman killed in SR 167 wreck identified
A woman who was killed Saturday afternoon after losing control of her car on state Route 167 in Tacoma has been identified by the Pierce County medical examiner.
Tasia Schanbeck, 23, of Kent, was in the westbound lanes of Bay Street (state Route 167) near the Puyallup Tribe’s cemetery when she lost control while passing a car in a turn in the road, according to Tacoma Police. The woman crossed into oncoming traffic where she was struck by a pickup truck driven by 65-year-old man.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man was taken to a hospital with what police described as a neck injury that was not life-threatening. A third car was also involved, but its occupants were unhurt.
