Man convicted of a second wreck in which his passenger died. Now he’ll be sentenced.

For the second time, Jacob Skylar Allyn Lee has been convicted of causing a fatal wreck in East Pierce County.

Superior Court Judge Philip Sorensen found the 27-year-old guilty of vehicular homicide Thursday for the 2016 wreck that killed Christopher Grice, 36, near Graham.

Lee waived his right to a jury trial, which meant Sorensen heard the case instead.

Charging papers show Lee had alcohol, marijuana and methamphetamine in his system when he drove his Jeep into a ditch Sept. 11 and hit a telephone pole.

He’d been heading south on state Route 7 near 304th Street East at the time.

Grice, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was thrown from the Jeep and died at the scene.

Lee also was convicted of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault for a wreck that killed one of his passengers Aug. 29, 2009 on the Sumner-Buckley Highway.

Lee was accused of driving 60 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone in that case. He lost control of his vehicle while trying to pass another car, rolled and hit some trees. Derrick Laiblin, 21, died in that crash.

Lee was sentenced to three years and fives months in prison in the case.

His sentencing hearing for Grice’s death is scheduled for March 16. Prosecutors said he could be sentenced to more than 23 years in prison.
