Suspected gunman arrested in Parkland homicide that stemmed from fistfight

An 18-year-old man was arrested early Thursday in connection with a fatal shooting in Parkland last year.

The suspect is believed to have killed Jacob Dawson, an 18-year-old Eatonville man, while he was hanging out with friends Nov. 24.

Pierce County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 1300 block of 136th Street East about 6:50 p.m. and found Dawson suffering from a single gunshot wound.

Nobody else was injured.

Dawson was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators said the shooting stemmed from a fight that took place earlier that night at the Mayfair Playfield, 13510 13th Ave. Ct. E.

Dawson was not involved in the fight.

Prosecutors are reviewing the case and are expected to make a charging decision Friday.
