Woman fatally shot inside Lakewood apartment during robbery

UPDATE: Woman killed during Lakewood home invasion robbery has been identified

A woman was fatally shot during a robbery inside her Lakewood apartment Tuesday morning, police said.

Police were called about 1:15 a.m. to the Union Crest apartments, 14900 Union Ave SW, and found a 36-year-old woman dead inside her home.

Her father told police two armed men entered their home.

“While one of them was in his room with him, he could hear the other suspect say something to his daughter and then a gunshot went off,” Lt. Chris Lawler said.

The suspects are believed to have taken computers and phones before they fled.

The father knocked on a neighbor’s door to call 911. His daughter, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one has been arrested.

Officers are canvassing the scene for possible surveillance footage.

At this time, no description of the suspects was available and police are unsure whether the men knew the victims or why they chose that apartment.
