2 women arrested in connection with fatal home-invasion robbery in Lakewood

Two women were arrested Friday in connection with a fatal home-invasion robbery in Lakewood.

Both women, ages 27 and 53, are expected to be charged Monday in the Feb. 11 death of Melissa Williams.

Police were called about 1:15 a.m. that day to the Union Crest apartments, 14900 Union Ave. SW.

Williams’ father told officers two armed people burst into the home he shared with his daughter and held them at gunpoint before stealing laptops and cell phones.

He was not in the same room as Williams, 36, but heard one of the suspects say something to her before a gunshot went off.

After the robbers fled, Williams’ dad ran to a neighbor’s apartment for help.

Detectives have not said whether the suspects specifically targeted that apartment.

The investigation is ongoing.
