Man found fatally shot inside Tacoma home is identified by medical examiner

A 46-year-old man found fatally shot in an Eastside Tacoma home last week was identified Wednesday by the medical examiner.

Riley Kimbrough, of Tacoma, died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to a news release from the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office. Tacoma Police Department officers found the man May 19 shot inside a residence in the 1300 block of East Fairbanks Street after a 911 caller reported a shooting.

The medical examiner ruled Kimbrough’s death a homicide. Four days after the shooting, Tacoma police announced officers had arrested a 37-year-old man suspected of killing Kimbrough. Police said he was arrested at an apartment in Tacoma.

A motive has not been identified in Kimbrough’s killing. Police have released few details about the shooting, and it’s unclear how the man suspected in the homicide was identified as a suspect.
