Body found in Tacoma ravine considered homicide victim

A man whose body was found at the bottom of a steep ravine in Tacoma was reported missing in October after he didn’t show up for class at Pierce College.

Police now are investigating the case as a homicide.

Jesus Isidor-Mendoza, 19, was last seen the morning of Oct. 22 when he left his mother’s Lakewood home. She reported him missing days later when he didn’t show up for class or return home.

His remains were spotted Monday in a wooded ravine behind a derelict house in the 3000 block of Delin Street.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has not determined how Isidor-Mendoza died and it was unclear how long his body had been in the ravine.

Detectives said the area is frequented by transients who might have information on the death. They asked that they come forward if they saw or heard anything.

Anyone with information on Isidor-Mendoza’s whereabouts in October and November is asked to call Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers at 253-222-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
