The Pierce County Medical Examiner released the identity of a man who was found dead on a basketball court in early September.

Keylen Collins, 19 of Puyallup, was shot and killed in the Lipoma Firs neighborhood on South Hill in the early morning of Sept. 3. His cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds, and the manner was homicide, according to the media release.

Multiple people reported to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department at around 3:21 a.m. that they heard gun shots fired followed by multiple vehicles leaving, according to a News Tribune article.

The article said that there were reports of a late-night party, followed by an argument and then the shooting.

“When deputies arrived, they could not find anyone from the disturbance,” said sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Darren Moss.

Medics pronounced Collins dead at the scene. Detectives believe the people at the party do not reside in the neighborhood where the incident took place. An investigation is ongoing.

A GoFundMe was set up with over $10,000 raised to support Collins’ family with funeral expenses.
