A man has been charged with in a fatal shooting that took place in Parkland in early August. He is currently on the loose, and a felony warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Shaun Luzama is wanted for shooting and killing a 41-year-old man at the Concordia Arms Apartments. He is charged with second-degree murder and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
On Aug. 5 at 10:01 p.m., police responded to a shooting and found a person with multiple gunshot wounds in the 100 block of 129th Street South. Deputies were unable to locate a suspect, and the victim later died at the hospital, according to a previous News Tribune report.
Before the shooting, witnesses saw two men park in the apartments parking lot in a newer gray Nissan Frontier. Luzama was on the passenger side. A witness, who later said he is Luzama’s cousin, said he heard gunshots moments after the men arrived. The driver allegedly yelled, “Shaun, go!”, before they drove off. A witness provided video of Luzama and the driver in the car, according to a declaration for determination of probable cause filed by prosecutors in Pierce County Superior Court.
Another witness who was a tenant told officers that he knows Luzama. The witness said he saw Luzama shoot the victim. He also saw the driver put on a wig after gunshots rang out, prosecutors wrote in the probable-cause document.
The gun from the shooting has not been located. Luzama has prior felony convictions, and he is prohibited from possessing or owning a firearm, court documents show.
Investigators are asking the public for information on Luzama’s whereabouts. Luzama is considered armed and dangerous.
An anonymous tip can go through Crime Stoppers, which is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to Luzama’s arrest, the news release said.
