A bicyclist who might have been intentionally hit by a car in late September has been identified, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Jose Cruz Morales, 51, was hit by a car the morning of Sept. 25 in the 11000 block of Waller Road East. The cause and manner of his death is pending, the news release said.

Deputies and fire crews found Morales on the side of the road. He did not survive his injuries, according to a previous News Tribune report.

Pierce County Sheriff’s Department detectives located video surveillance of the vehicle thought to have hit him, a 2000-2006 gold/beige Chevy Tahoe with possible front-end damage, the article said.

The driver has not been located, and detectives are seeking information on the Chevy Tahoe, according to Pierce County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Sgt. Darren Moss.
