Arrest made in Tacoma shooting that killed 2, wounded 3. Man surrendered at police HQ

A man has been arrested in the shooting that killed two people and wounded three others early Sunday morning inside a lounge on Tacoma’s 6th Avenue.

Police reported this evening that the man surrendered at police headquarters about 4:30 p.m. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder and three counts of first-degree assault, according to a Tacoma police news release.

The release said “members of the public” assisted in the man’s surrender.

The shooting occurred about 1:30 a.m. inside The Alleycat, a popular bar in the 2700 block of 6th Avenue. One of the victims, a 35-year-old man, died at the scene. A 34-year-old woman died a short time later. Three others were wounded.

The gunman fled after the shooting.

What led up the violence has not been made public. Police said Sunday evening the investigation is ongoing.
