The identity of a man who was fatally shot in Parkland last week has been formally released.

Paul Carlson, 53, died from a gunshot wound to the head on Nov. 4 near the 12900 block of Park Avenue South. The manner of his death was a homicide, according to a news release from the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Carlson was found dead in a Parkland home where he rented a room from his friend’s father. The owner of the home, an 81-year-old man, discovered Carlson dead, according to a previous News Tribune story.

Sgt. Darren Moss, spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, said the incident was declared a homicide because no gun was found at the scene.

No arrests have been made.
