Man shot and killed in Spanaway home identified by medical examiner

A Tacoma man who was shot and killed earlier this month in Spanaway has been officially identified, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Patrick McFarland, 35, died from multiple gunshot wounds on March 4 near the 3700 block of 159th Street East. His death has been ruled as a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said in a release.

Deputies were dispatched to the home at 11:32 a.m. for reports of a shooting. They were advised that a male victim was shot inside the home. Four people were detained when deputies investigated the scene. McFarland died while he was being transported to the hospital, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

Detectives interviewed several witnesses. Two guns were collected as evidence. No one has been arrested, the Sheriff’s Department said.
