Woman found dead in the middle of a Tacoma street identified by medical examiner

A woman who was killed last week in Tacoma has been officially identified, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Yinairy Medina Castro, 38, died from multiple gunshot wounds near Tacoma Avenue South and Delin Street on March 27. Her cause of death has been listed as a homicide, the medical examiner said in a news release.

A passerby found the woman in the middle of the street with injuries, according to the Tacoma Police Department.

Life-saving measures were initiated, but the woman was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene, the police department said.

It is unclear what led up to the shooting.

As of Tuesday, no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
