Here’s how a Cadillac Escalade helped Pierce County deputies arrest a shooting suspect

A tip from a 911 caller led to the arrest of the man suspected of shooting a Pierce County cannabis store employee last month.

The employee was taking a break outside Zips Cannabis in the 10000 block of Pacific Avenue South at 10:48 p.m. on May 17 when he was shot three times. The shooter drove off in a Cadillac Escalade, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department on Facebook.

Deputies put out a bulletin to the public Monday that showed the alleged shooter in the Escalade.

Pierce County deputies received a tip on Tuesday about 7 a.m. that the vehicle matching the description was in a neighborhood near 200th Street East and 50th Avenue East in Spanaway, according to the department on Facebook.

The man was in the Escalade and drove off when deputies and detectives arrived. A traffic stop was initiated, and the man was taken into custody, the post said. Detectives interviewed the man and booked him as a suspect for the shooting.

A firearm was recovered in the Escalade.
