Buckley man fatally shot by deputies following domestic-violence incident identified

A Buckley man who was shot and killed after allegedly pointing a rifle in the direction of Pierce County deputies was officially identified.

Timothy McDonald, 48, died from multiple gunshot wounds on July 24 near the 7500 block of 242nd Avenue Court East. His manner of death is listed as a homicide, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched to a home at about 11:32 p.m. for reports of a domestic incident involving a weapon, The News Tribune previously reported.

Deputies got a woman out of the residence. At 11:44 p.m. deputies advised that a man, now identified as McDonald, had racked his rifle and could be seen from the window. McDonald was reportedly on the porch at 11:51 p.m. with the firearm, the story said.

McDonald was allegedly not cooperative and pointed the weapon at deputies, according to the Pierce County Force Investigation Team in a news release. Three deputies fired shots at McDonald who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No deputies or bystanders were injured. PCFIT is investigating.
