A Tacoma man who was killed in a shooting in Puyallup that injured three others has been identified, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Daetron Franco, 23, died from a gunshot wound to the torso on Nov. 3 near the 6600 block of 152nd Street East. His manner of death was ruled a homicide, the Medical Examiner’s Office said in a news release.

Pierce County deputies were dispatched at 12:40 a.m. that morning to 152nd Street East and 66th Avenue East. Deputies found a vehicle that had crashed into a ditch and man who had been shot, according to the Sheriff’s Department in a Facebook post.

The man was alert and taken to a local hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries, the post said.

Three other young adults then showed up at the hospital with gunshot wounds, the post said. One of them, Franco, died from his injuries.

During the investigation, detectives spoke to people from a party on 58th Avenue East and learned the shooting did not happen at the house. Investigators believe the alleged shooter and victim were connected to that party, the post said.

Detectives believe the second shooting scene was at 58th Avenue East and 152nd Street, the post said. They ask anyone who lives in the area to check their security cameras and upload any footage of cars driving by between 12 a.m. and 12:50 a.m. to the Sheriff’s Department evidence submission portal.

Franco was described as “the most caring son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin,” according to a GoFundMe campaign that hopes to raise funds for funeral and burial expenses.

“He loved his family more than anything, always showing up for them and every family event,” the fundraiser said.
