Tacoma man fatally shot inside apartment building identified by ME. No arrests made

A Tacoma man who was fatally shot over the weekend has been identified, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Messiah Washington, 18, died from multiple gunshot wounds on Saturday near the 1100 block of South L Street, the office said in a news release. His manner of death was listed as a homicide.

Officers were dispatched at 9 p.m. to an apartment building after multiple 911 callers reported shots fired in the area. Officers began life-saving measures until Tacoma Fire personnel took over. Washington died at the scene, The News Tribune previously reported.

As of Thursday, no arrests had been made, according to a Tacoma Police Department spokesperson. Anyone with information on the shooting or video from the scene is asked to contact the Police Department.
