A Bothell man fatally shot during an altercation outside a Pierce County apartment building two weeks ago has been identified.

Ka’lan Simonton, 32, died from multiple gunshot wounds on March 25, 2025, in the 1700 block of 108th Street South. His manner of death is listed as a homicide, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office wrote in a news release.

Deputies were dispatched at 4:15 a.m. to the Cedar Crest Apartments and found Simonton injured. Deputies began life-saving measures until fire department personnel arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene, The News Tribune previously reported.

Pierce County Sheriff’s Office’s deputy Carly Cappetto described the scene as “chaotic.” There were shell casings littering 108th Street South in front of the apartment building, the story reports.

It is presumed there was an altercation, but it is not known what it was over. No suspects have been arrested, and the investigation is active.
