Suspect who allegedly shot Parkland teenager still at large, police say

Detectives are searching for 21-year-old Brandon Torres-Mesa, the alleged shooter in the Parkland robbery-homicide case from last month.

The alleged shooter of a teenager in Parkland killed in a robbery-homicide on May 24 remains at large, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

Brandon Torres-Mesa, 21, faces charges of aggravated first-degree murder, first-degree murder and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, according to court records. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

The victim, 17-year-old Braylon Diaz, was killed last month after a group of people pulled up to him in a car, robbed him of his jewelry then shot him. Authorities received the call at 7:13 p.m. and found his body in the 10200 block of Sheridan Avenue South.

Torres-Mesa is described as 6 feet tall and weighing between 200 and 300 pounds, according to a PCSO press release. He is believed to be armed.

Two other suspects were arrested in Snohomish County Sunday evening: 26-year-old Alyssa Marie Vaught-Barr and a 25-year-old man.

According to court records, Vaught-Barr is accused of driving the vehicle that pulled up to the victim. She is charged with first-degree murder.

The 25-year-old man was charged with being a fugitive from justice in relation to an arrest warrant from Oregon. He has not been charged in the death of Diaz.
