Man killed in early-morning Tacoma shooting; homicide investigation underway

A man is dead after a shooting in Tacoma early Wednesday.

According to a news release from the Tacoma Police Department, officers responded to a call of gunshots at 3:04 a.m. in the 6900 block of East D Street.

When officers arrived, they found an adult man with gunshot wounds, the release said. Officers tried to save his life, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians are actively investigating this incident as a homicide,” the release said. “There are no suspects in custody at this time.”

This is the second early-morning fatal shooting in Tacoma this week. Another man died at about 12:36 a.m. Monday morning in the 1000 block of South Tacoma Way.

The News Tribune asked Officer Shelbie Boyd, spokesperson for the Tacoma Police Department, if the two cases are related. She said it’s too early to tell.

Anyone with information on this case should call 911, the release said.
