Tacoma man gets 7 years for molesting 13-year-old girl

A 22-year-old Tacoma man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for molesting a 13-year-old girl in a car at the Tacoma Dome Station parking garage.

Superior Court Judge James Orlando handed down the sentence, which was above the standard range, to Brendan Rydman on Friday.

Rydman previously pleaded guilty to second-degree child molestation, which counts as a strike under Washington’s three-strikes law.

Police found the girl and him in a car parked at the garage last year.

Rydman told them he’d taken the girl there to teach her to drive, court records show, but surveillance footage showed the pair engaged in sex.

Rydman has a conviction for communicating with a minor for immoral purposes, according to court records.
