Christmas came early! Lanes on 167 to reopen after bridge repair wraps up
All northbound lanes on state Route 167 in Pacific will close Monday night as emergency repairs wrap up for a bridge that was damaged about three months ago.
The bridge across Third Avenue Southwest closed after an over-height vehicle struck it on Sept. 23, forcing the northbound highway to be reduced to one lane as repairs were underway. On Tuesday, all traffic lanes are expected to reopen following the highway closure.
As emergency repairs wrap up overnight Monday, the northbound lanes on SB 167 will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday between Stewart and Ellingson Roads, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Northbound traffic will exit at Stewart Road. A signed detour will guide people back to northbound SR 167.
The bridge was expected to reopen in 2026.
“We are pleased and proud that we are able to complete this work ahead of schedule,” WSDOT spokesperson Casey Conley told The News Tribune.
Johansen Construction Co. of Sumner was given a $1.6 million contract by WSDOT to finish the repairs.
