Woman holds sledgehammer over 5-year-old’s head as cops burst in, Oregon cops say
A Glendale, Oregon woman has been arrested after police said she barricaded herself in a bedroom with a 5-year-old and held a sledgehammer over the child’s head.
On Saturday, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at Naomi Hope Elli’s home and found that she had barricaded the door to her bedroom and was alone with a child, according to a police news release.
Deputies said the child was screaming for help and they forced through the door. They said they saw Ellis holding a sledgehammer over the child’s head.
Officers used a Taser to overtake Ellis after they said she refused to drop the hammer. The child didn’t have any injuries.
Ellis was arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail, and faces charges of menacing, resisting arrest, unlawful use of weapon, harassment, disorderly conduct and reckless endangering.
