25-year-old drowns swimming in Texas on trip to visit girlfriend, cops say. ‘Tragic’
A 25-year-old man was visiting his girlfriend at a Texas state park when he went under water while swimming and never resurfaced, authorities said.
The boyfriend was last seen alive swimming near the Lake Corpus Christi pier, San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera said in a Facebook post.
Responders with Lake Corpus Christi State Park, Texas Parks and Wildlife and San Patricio Sheriff’s Office were called to the drowning Sunday, June 5, he said. Sonar equipment helped find the man’s body in the water that same evening.
“Our sincere condolences to the family,” Rivera said.
The man was on a trip from his hometown of Manor, near Austin, about 170 miles north of the lake. He has not been publicly identified by authorities.
