Woman drunkenly drove car into lake and told police she wasn’t the driver, AZ cops say

A woman was arrested in a suspected DUI crash after driving her car into in an Arizona lake, media outlets reported.

After midnight on Dec. 22, Chandler police reported to West Ray Road and North Pennington Drive after receiving calls that a car crashed into a lake, according to FOX 10.

The woman in the water told police she was a passenger in the crashed vehicle, according to ABC 15 Arizona.

The woman provided someone else’s name and a search for the driver began, according to CBS 5.

First responders searched the lake for the driver but later determined the woman was the only person in the car, according to ABC 15 Arizona.

The woman was arrested and faces charges of false reporting and suspicion of driving under the influence, according to FOX 10.

Chandler is about 25 miles southeast of Phoenix.
