People are always fascinated by castles, regardless of their location. From ancient castle ruins to a fairy-tale dream in Disney movies, they always seem to spark interest.

One castle has bounced on and off the market in the Land of Opportunity state and is turning heads thanks to its cool name and bizarre design.

It’s called “The Dromborg Castle” and the five-bedroom, five-bathroom home — listed for $4.999 million — is considered “a state treasure” in Fayetteville, Arkansas, according to its listing on Zillow.com.

“This home sits on 34 acres and features a pond with perch and catfish and a small in-ground pool that has a potential to be heated,” the listing says.

What’s fascinating about the 8,825-square-foot residence is its standout design that stretches high into the sky where wandering eyes can view it from a distance. But the inside is just as unique and has a wide variety of amenities, including:

  • Great room

  • Large kitchen

  • Kitchenette on second floor

  • Observation deck

  • Floor heating

The home was featured on Friday Night Zillow, a Twitter segment run by Bloomberg reporter Steven Dennis that highlights interesting homes across the market, and folks were either weirded out by it, or amused.

“There apparently is a castle in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and if you have ~$5M you can buy it,” Dennis tweeted. “’The Dromborg Castle’ finished in 2008 comes w/40 acres. It has been on the market on and off, previously at much higher prices.”

I actually knew about this place, but only because I saw the top of it once while driving and wondered what in the world it was,” one person responded.

Love this,” another complimented.

According to Axios, the home’s design was inspired by Scottish castles of the 13th century and “was built with more than 4,000 tons of native stone, hand-fitted by craftsmen.”
