A driver was on a California road when they heard something odd while at a stop sign — meowing.

The truck’s driver called the San Diego Humane Society, the nonprofit said in a May 10 Instagram post.

When the driver parked, they found a “kitten with her jaw tightly trapped in a hole of the vehicle’s frame,” according to the nonprofit.

The nonprofit said its veterinary team rushed to the scene to extract the 8-week-old kitten.

Using Q-tips, the team dislodged the kitten’s head to “free her from the tight spot” while she was sedated, according to the nonprofit.

The nonprofit said it took the kitten to its nearby Escondido campus for additional care, which included “medication, fluids, antibiotics and a good meal.”

“We are delighted that the kitten is now safe,” the nonprofit said while thanking the driver for calling.
