A family looking for a missing man found his two dogs and cat at an abandoned campsite, California sheriff’s officials reported.

Eric Campbell, 47, of Eureka was reported missing Sept. 18 after his camp along Patrick Creek in Del Norte County was found empty except for his pets, Redheaded Blackbelt reported.

His pickup truck was found at the camp with the hood up, the publication said.

Searchers have been looking for Campbell with ground teams, drones and helicopters, the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The sheriff’s office asked that people avoid the area while the search continues.

Del Norte County is on the California-Oregon border.
