Lottery player follows instincts while with friend — and wins top Maryland prize
A Delaware man won a top lottery prize in Maryland after following his instincts, lottery officials said.
The lucky player won $100,000 in the Money Rush scratch-off game, the Maryland Lottery said in a June 3 news release.
He bought his winning ticket at a convenience store in Easton, about a 40-mile drive southeast from Annapolis, the lottery said.
The man was originally at the store to pick up a friend, but something told him to buy some instant tickets before leaving, lottery officials said.
“This store is about to be famous,” he told the store clerk after scratching the ticket and realizing he’d won, according to the lottery.
He said he didn’t have plans for his win aside from paying off his car, the lottery said.
The Money Rush game started in July and costs $10 to play, according to the game’s webpage.
The odds of winning are 1 in 3.5, according to the lottery. Four of nine top prizes remain to be claimed.
