Person dies from fall after reaching 9,400 feet on Mount Hood, Oregon cops say

A person died Tuesday after being found at 9,400 feet on Mount Hood, Oregon, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office received a report that a body had been found by a climber, according to a post on the department’s official Twitter account. The deceased person was wearing ski boots, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said a rescue mission changed to a recovery mission and a snowcat vehicle has taken emergency crews up the mountain, according to the Twitter post. .

The sheriff’s office hasn’t identified the person, who was found in the Illumination Saddle area.
