A sister rushed to call 911 after witnessing her brother get shot near a Washington fishing pier, police said.

The shooting happened just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, the Edmonds Police Department said in a news release.

The two siblings had been walking along the waterfront when they encountered a group of “four to six males,” police said.

Police said the brother was then shot multiple times by “by one or more suspects” who they said ran off after the shooting.

The sister called 911 and first responders got to the scene within three minutes, police said.

The brother was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

No one has been arrested as of Jan. 9, police said, and the investigation is ongoing.

“Based on the current information, police do not believe an ongoing public safety threat exists,” police said.

Anyone with information about the suspects can contact police by emailing policetips@edmondswa.gov.

Edmonds is about a 15-mile drive north from Seattle.
