Toys ‘R’ Us opens new store in Washington — in time for holidays. Here’s where
A big-name retailer — particularly popular among kids — has opened a seasonal holiday shop in the Westfield Southcenter mall near Tacoma, the company said.
Toys “R” Us announced the new shop, plus several other seasonal shops and flagship stores across the country, in an Oct. 16 news release.
The “major U.S. expansion” is marking “a significant milestone in the brand’s growth, bringing the magic of play to more families than ever, making Toys ”R” Us the go-to stop for holiday shopping,” the company said in the release.
The Southcenter location is already open, according to the release, which didn’t list shop hours or say where it’s set up within the mall.
The News Tribune reached out to Westfield Southcenter officials on Oct. 21 for more information and was awaiting a response.
Are there any other new Toys “R” Us locations in Washington?
Toys “R” Us announced nearly 30 new locations nationwide, including eight “flagship stores” and 20 seasonal holiday shops.
It also plans to announce more openings “throughout the season,” per the release.
The seasonal shop at Southcenter is the only new location that’s been announced in Washington.
Toys “R” Us, which is about eight years post-bankruptcy filing, is partnering with the Go! Retail Group.
Toys “R” Us said “the rollout represents a new chapter for Toys “R” Us, strengthening its place at the center of holiday shopping and redefining family retail experiences. With new stores nationwide, customers of all ages are invited to discover the season’s hottest toys and rediscover what it means to be a Toys “R” Us kid,” per the release.
Westfield Southcenter is in the Tukwila area, about a 25-mile drive northeast from Tacoma.
