Live updates: More than 2,000 out of power on Key Peninsula as winds move into area

Stormy weather has knocked out power and downed trees in the Pierce County area Monday evening, following National Weather Service forecasts of high winds up to 60 mph and possible thunderstorms into Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a high-wind warning for much of Western Washington through 10 a.m. Tuesday. Winds will pick up speed quickly after about 9 to 10 p.m. and peak through the early morning, according to the weather service’s post on X Monday afternoon. KIRO-7 reported a wind gust of 52 mph about 10 p.m. at the Narrows Airport.

Current power outages are listed below. Check Puget Sound Energy’s outage map, Tacoma Public Utility’s outage map or PenLight’s outage map for the most recent updates and estimated restoration times in your area.

Tacoma Public Utilities

An outage affecting 30 customers was reported about 10:30 p.m. near South Verde Street and South 52nd Street.

Puget Sound Energy

Widespread outages were reported across the PSE service area, including more than 700 customers in the Greenwater area and nearly 29 in Bonney Lake as of 11 p.m. Outages also were reported in and around Roy.

PenLight

Widespread outages were reported across the service area by 10:45 p.m., including more than 500 west of Lakebay, 175 more east of Vaughn and another 200 or more from Longbranch south. Hope Island also had more than 100 outages, and there were scattered outages in and around Gig Harbor.

Road conditions

A high-wind advisory was issued for state Route 16 across the Narrows bridges about 10:05 p.m. by WSDOT until further notice.
