Media: Biased institution has lost respect
Re: “Free press needed to keep Trump accountable,” (TNT letter, 7/21).
The author is afraid our free press is in jeopardy, an institution that has been under attack by our president, who believes it is biased against him and and his so-called deplorable followers who elected him.
No one wants to curtail the so-called free press, but many of us want to define the current version as a biased institution that doesn’t deserve the respect of the American public — a respect the past press earned by balanced news reporting without the constant attack on a single agenda issue.
That agenda is to destroy a president and subvert his followers.
Our free press and freedom of speech are really only in jeopardy in the many universities and schools that drive away all conversation that deviates from political correctness.
Any paper or lecture that runs counter to that political correctness is met with riots, property damage and people getting hurt.
The free speech enemy is not the conservative institutions, but the university rioters and their liberal allies.
