Travel ban: Guns, not immigrants, are the real danger

Re” “Travel ban: Trump wins at Supreme Court” (TNT letters, 8/6).

The conservative talking point that says keeping Muslims and other immigrants out of the country will make us safer does not hold water.

The odds of being killed by a foreign terrorist are along the lines of being hit by lightning. In fact, since 9/11 more people in the USA have been killed by toddlers with guns than by terrorists.

If Republicans really want to make the country safer they should stand up to the gun lobbies and enact the common sense gun control that a vast majority of Americans want.
