Traffic: State Patrol is helping commuters
Re: “Doesn’t State Patrol have bigger concerns?” (letter, 3-20).
I want to offer a different perspective to the writer’s reaction to increased state trooper patrolling for “left-lane campers.”
She sees it as a way to raise funds. I see it as a way to uphold Washington law and to help folks like me, who spend at least two hours a day on Interstate 5 in a vanpool. Raising awareness of this issue has already helped reduce the number of drivers who “park” in the left lane and plug the flow of traffic.
Spending a lot of time on I-5 makes me very appreciative of the State Patrol’s efforts in performing this service. It’s easy to avoid the fine; just remember what we learned in driving school.
