Vote: Was Orting wrestling or Auburn Riverside softball the best team in 2023-24?

We asked, you answered. Voters said the Orting High School boys wrestling team was the best high school sports team in the South Sound during the winter and the Auburn Riverside softball team was the best team in the spring of the 2023-24 school year.

Of the two, which team was the best this school year? Read about each team’s accomplishments below and vote now. The poll is located at the bottom of the story. Voting will remain open until noon Friday.

Orting wrestling: The Cardinals won the Class 2A team wrestling title at Mat Classic XXXV at the Tacoma Dome with 299.5 points, well ahead of second-place Othello (120). Dominic Thomas (113), A.J. Salguero (126), Bryan Dickerson (132), Quentin Harding (138) and Levi DiCugno (175) won individual titles for Orting.

Auburn Riverside softball: The Ravens toppled Snohomish, 11-6, to claim the 3A state softball championship on May 25. Auburn Riverside routed No. 4 Mount Spokane in the state quarterfinals, 20-7, before upsetting top-ranked University in convincing fashion, 15-4, in the semis.
