Water line break closes Five Mile Drive at Point Defiance Park

A water line break has temporarily closed the outer loop of Point Defiance Park’s Five Mile Drive.

The fix may take several days, Metro Parks said.

Access to Fort Nisqually Living History Museum, Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and other park attractions is not affected.

The six-inch water line that supplies fire hydrants along the loop broke either late Monday or early Tuesday near the loop’s Vashon Viewpoint.

Age might have been a factor in its failure, Metro Parks said.

Metro Parks hoped to reopen the loop as early as Wednesday afternoon, but cautioned that the repair could take several days.
