Body found in Point Defiance Park
Firefighters recovered a body from Point Defiance Park on Monday, according to the Tacoma Fire Department.
Someone spotted a body about 3 p.m. near the Narrows Viewpoint in Point Defiance Park and called 911, Tacoma Fire spokesman Joe Meinecke said.
Firefighters were dispatched for a rescue effort along the beach, Meinecke said, but it turned into a body recovery.
Firefighters responded both by boat and from Five Mile Drive.
