Haze, haze go away: Smoke lingers, so enjoy those dramatic sunrises
Those fire-red sunrises and sunsets burning through a smoky haze will last a bit longer in the South Sound.
An upper level ridge is lingering to keep warmer temperatures locked in at least for today (Friday), along with all that smoke in the atmosphere from wildfires, including smoke from the Diamond Creek fire near the British Columbia border.
An excessive heat warning remains in effect through Friday evening.
By Saturday, the National Weather Service says the ridge will weaken, giving us a slight cooldown, with a high near 85.
The region’s air quality alert continues through Saturday. Those with respiratory problems should avoid any prolonged outdoor activity. Wildfire and air quality updates can be found at wasmoke.blogspot.com
