Five women — one pregnant — injured in crash that has shut down Route 302

A head-on crash sent five women to hospitals Sunday evening and completely shut down state Route 302.

The collision occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. near Emerald Drive NW, approximately one mile from Purdy, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Washington State Patrol spokeswoman Brooke Bova said a 19-year-old woman has been arrested for DUI vehicular assault. She was transported to a local hospital.

Another 19-year-old in the arrested driver’s car is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, Bova said. A 20-year-old woman in the same car received minor injuries.

The driver of the other car, a pregnant 23-year-old, and her mother, 43, both received minor injuries. The younger woman, who is 32 weeks pregnant, remains hospitalized under observation Sunday night.

Her mother was treated and released.

Route 302 is blocked at both ends of Goldman Drive NW, Key Peninsula Fire said. Traffic is being detoured on to Goldman Drive.
