I-5 closed after wreck ejects driver of SUV, State Patrol says
Northbound Interstate 5 was closed near Nisqually after an SUV struck a railroad bridge and its driver was ejected, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The crash happened about 5 p.m. in heavy fog, State Patrol spokeswoman Brooke Bova said. The SUV hit the guard rail, flipped over and struck the bridge.
The 21-year-old man driving the SUV is alert and was speaking with troopers, she said. He was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The northbound lanes of I-5 were closed to allow first responders easier access to the scene of the crash. They reopened about 5:50 p.m.
