State Patrol: Road rage turns to fistfight, hit-and-run on I-5 in Tacoma
A road rage incident turned into a fistfight Saturday on the side of Interstate 5, then escalated into a hit-and-run, the State Patrol said.
Trooper Todd Bartolac gave this account:
About 5 p.m., two vehicles were weaving in and out of traffic, cutting each other off. They pulled over to the side of northbound I-5 near South 38th Street, and two men fought.
At some point, one of the men got back into his vehicle, a white BMW 740, put it in reverse, backed into another person, and left.
Bartolac wasn’t sure if the person hit was the man involved in the fight, or someone else.
He said the person was taken to a hospital, but that his injuries were not life-threatening.
A bystander caught the altercation on video, and troopers identified the suspect vehicle, Bartolac said. The license plate is BBE7492, and the car has rear end damage.
Further details, including what started the whole thing, weren’t immediately available.
