Son arrested after dad found dead in Tumwater
A 19-year-old Tumwater man was arrested Wednesday evening and booked into Thurston County Jail for the murder of his father, according to Tumwater Police spokeswoman Jen Kolb.
The man will likely make his first appearance Thursday in Thurston County Superior Court, Kolb said. The Olympian does not name suspects until they have made their first court appearance.
The man’s father was found dead in a home in the 2200 block of McIver Court about 6 p.m. Wednesday.
According to a news release from Kolb:
Tumwater police were dispatched to the Tumwater Timberland Library just after 6 p.m. after the 19-year-old reported he had harmed someone.
Officers detained the man after confirming the story he told.
They then went to the home he had described to find a man, who “appears to have died by homicidal violence.” He was identified as the suspect’s father.
The police investigation is ongoing with the assistance of crime scene investigators from the Lacey Police Department. No further suspects are being sought at this time.
Kolb said she could not release information about the type of weapon that was used because the incident is still under investigation.
