The man shot at South 10th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way Saturday has been identified as 19-year-old Philip Ryan Jr.
INITIAL POST: An apparent drive-by shooting in Tacoma left one man dead Saturday, and police are on the hunt for suspects, Tacoma police said.
The shooting took place at about 1 p.m. near the intersection of South 10th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way, said police spokeswoman Loretta Cool. The victim, a man in his late teens or early 20s, was transported to a nearby hospital and died from his wounds, Cool added.
Details were still sketchy Saturday afternoon. Cool said police were speaking to multiple witnesses, but she did not have a clear description of the car or the occupants.
Later Saturday night, another young man in his 20s was shot near South 45th and Union Avenue. The 9:40 p.m. shooting occurred when several men gathered outside a business, police said. The victim, shot in the leg, hobbled into a nearby business for help. The man was transported to a Tacoma hospital. Police were investigating why the shooting happened late Saturday.
