Chicken joint with fast-growing footprint opens new restaurant near the Tacoma Mall
A rapidly expanding national chicken franchise has opened its first restaurant in Tacoma.
In early 2023, franchise owners Mohammad and Elina Khadar confirmed with The News Tribune that not only were they planning a Super Chix in the Frederickson area (opened in August 2023) but also were working on a location near the Tacoma Mall.
The Tacoma Super Chix, 4201 S. Steele St., Suite 300, had a soft launch in late October and grand opening Nov. 2.
The restaurant features various chicken dishes (wraps, salads, sandwiches and tenders with dip assortments), hand-cut fries and frozen custard, among other menu items.
The Frederickson restaurant was the first Washington state location for the brand. In March, the Khadars opened a new Super Chix in Federal Way. There is also a Lacey site in operation.
The chain’s corporate leadership announced in April 2022 that the Khadars were set to develop at least 35 new Super Chix restaurants in Washington and Oregon.
This summer, plans were filed for a new location in Seattle, the Puget Sound Business Journal reported in August.
The Tacoma shopping center (former site of Adriatic Grill) where Super Chix recently opened saw the arrival of Starbucks in January, which relocated from the Tacoma Mall. Milan Laser Hair Removal also is at the center between Starbucks and Super Chix.
The area is in the midst of several planned redevelopments within few blocks of each other:
▪ Across from the center, new apartments are still planned to replace an office building.
▪ Tacoma Mall itself is planning several restaurants at two new buildings for its “Village.”
