3 new stores added to Tacoma Mall’s roster. Pop Mart event also planned
Tacoma Mall continues to grow its store roster as it gets ready for its major Village expansion to open this fall.
Additionally, one store is taking another run at a grand opening this week complete with its in-demand toy.
New stores now slated for the main mall building as “coming soon” include Garage and Perfumania (not to be confused with the existing Parfumerie) as well as new restaurants and retail planned for The Village at Tacoma Mall.
Garage, a clothing store which last week submitted plan revisions to the city, will be next to Sephora.
Perfumania’s start date for construction is next month, according to its permit filing. The store sells discount designer brand perfumes. It will be between Zales and GNC across from GameStop.
A media representative for the mall told The News Tribune last month via email that Garage and Perfumania were slated for fall openings.
Another new store, Shoe Palace, is expected to begin construction early next year, according to its permit filing with the city of Tacoma. It has a store at South Hill Mall in Puyallup (its first Washington state location) as well as a store at Westfield Southcenter mall in Tukwila.
Permits also have been filed regarding upgrades and remodeling for the main Tacoma Mall building, 4502 S. Steele St., in a project its owner Simon real estate investment trust has called “a multimillion-dollar revitalization.”
The Village at Tacoma Mall will include Dave’s Hot Chicken, Shake Shack, Supreme Dumplings, Simply Thai restaurant, Happy Lamb Hot Pot, Gong Cha bubble tea and Taco Street as well as a furniture showroom for Lovesac.
The development has been planned to debut in October. Updated opening information was not immediately available on Monday.
Labubu alert
Pop Mart, which opened in July but had to reschedule its grand opening due to a Labubu doll shortage, is now advertising its grand opening celebration for Aug. 30. The mall opens at 10 a.m.
According to a posting on the mall’s website, “The line will start at Pop Mart’s location inside the mall between Helzberg Diamonds and Dairy Queen. The best entrance to use is between Kizuki Ramen and Jamba Juice.”
