The retail portion of a master-planned community north of Gig Harbor in the Port Orchard area is coming together.

Developers behind McCormick Communities this month announced construction starting on the McCormick Village Retail Center at the intersection of Southwest Old Clifton Road and McCormick Village Drive.

The retail center includes about 30,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and service space set in a pedestrian-oriented village.

The site is envisioned “as the community’s central commercial and social hub, serving both McCormick residents and the broader Port Orchard area,” according to a release from the development’s media team.

McCormick already is home to about 7,399 residents and is projected to grow to some 19,000 residents by 2033, the release stated.

The retail center’s lease agreements so far include Forestview Dental, McCormick Veterinary Clinic, Wilson Patisserie, a locally owned bakery, Salt & Sage Massage and Skincare, Village Pharmacy and Honey & Mane Hair Studio.

Additional tenants in final lease negotiations include a yoga studio and gym.

A representative for the developers told The News Tribune in response to questions that there are “no plans at this time for a grocer.”

Buildings A and B at the village for the dental office, vet clinic and bakery are expected to be completed by late summer. Building H will include the salon and McCormick Communities HOA office, and open early next year. Building I will serve as home to the yoga studio and gym, with the businesses opening next spring.

According to the release, “Additional buildings will be delivered in phases as leasing continues, introducing a broader mix of dining destinations, neighborhood retail, and everyday service providers that will further activate the village center.”

The master-planned McCormick community is designed in a forest environment and anchored by the McCormick Woods Golf Club. It includes a 65-acre park, eight miles of walking trails, off-leash dog parks, tennis & pickleball courts, among other amenities.

The News Tribune in 2021 reported on the development of 88 new homes in McCormick Village, and the further development of homes in McCormick Trails in 2024.
