Officials lift closure on Northbound I-5 in DuPont after work finishes early
After crews finished work on a portion of I-5 in DuPont earlier than planned, the Washington State Department of Transportation said nighttime drivers will likely see normal traffic levels in the area after 10 p.m. on July 26.
The crews were tasked with removing temporary structures used to build a bridge on the new Steilacoom-DuPont overpass, part of a larger project to build a roundabout on Steilacoom-Dupont Road. WSDOT was originally forecasting heavy congestion in the area after 10 p.m. on July 25 and 26 as parts of Northbound I-5 would be reduced to a single lane.
The overpass will be completed in 2026 as part of the roughly $233.3 million I-5 Mounts Road to Steilacoom-DuPont Road Corridor Improvements project, according to WSDOT.
